WEEK 4 : Standards MIDI Function
Standards and MIDI Functions :
During this week, we utilized a MIDI controller alongside Synth Edit software to regulate the tempo of musical notes. We programmed in C++ with a baud rate of 31250. Each potentiometer corresponded to a tempo variable, allowing us to adjust the note sound by manipulating them. The accompanying images provide a rudimentary understanding of the process.
The session also addressed a crucial facet of technology: standards. We explored various kinds, such as European, British, and MiDi standards, and delved into the importance of procedures and Request for Comments (RFCs). We discovered that standards are vital for advancement and engineering since they ensure compatibility, interoperability, and safety. They serve as a universal language that fosters cooperation, even among rivals, and are essential for the worldwide spread of technology.
This lecture was a fusion of technology, music, and standards, demonstrating the seamless integration of imagination and engineering. The activities involving the MIDI controller and Arduino kits went beyond mere instruction in sound alteration; they provided in-depth insights into the pivotal role of standards in technology and progress. As we navigate the expansive realms of information technology further, the teachings on standardization and its influence on collaboration and advancement will undeniably influence our approach to forthcoming projects and innovations.
